Website Description : Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) are basic components in optical communications and optical sensing of strain or pressure or temperature. AOS offers a number of telecommunication devices and optical Bragg grating sensor products. Fiber Bragg gratings for telecommunication are acting as filter, in-fiber cavity, or wavelength reference. Bragg sensors are optical fiber sensors. The propagating light is split at the active part into a transmitted part and into a reflected part. The center frequency of the reflected light shifts with the induced strain and/or temperature, so the Fiber Bragg Grating sensor performs as long term stabile, calibration free optical strain gage. To work with Fiber Bragg Gratings you may need broad band LED sources to illuminate them. Another necessary device for all optical systems are wavelength references that may be used as calibration modules.
